Large-scale Moscow's Attacks Cut Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced problems to drinking water, as stated by city officials.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area endured significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

He said energy workers and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
