19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his initial trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.
Success also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.
Both players traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.
The opponent rescued four initial break points in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
